In 1983, La Salle Retreat Center began under the direction of Dan Landowski and Richard Roller, FSC. They provided hospitality, faith formation and youth retreats. In 1999, Sister Mary Jo Kirt, OSF became the Administrator and the name of the center was changed to the Mount Tabor Center. The new name reflects the mission of the youth retreat facility as a place of transformation.
In 2003, Eden Foord became the Director of Mount Tabor Center and the ministry began to grow at a fast pace. In 2009, SPIRITUS began in order to keep up with the growing ministry and in response to Pope Benedict XVI call for young adults to enter into the mission of the Church. SPIRITUS evangelizes Catholic youth and young adults throughout Wisconsin through leading retreats, spiritual programs and Bible studies. SPIRITUS inspires more than 5,000 young Catholics on 150 retreats each year. SPIRITUS is now growing into multiple teams evangelizing more young Catholics and giving young adults more opportunities to serve.
